Files, artifacts and the browser

The panel on the right of a task shows what the agent made, lets you browse the workspace, and holds a web browser and a terminal.

Panel buttons

The buttons at the top right of a task open the side panel. Select the same button again to close it.

Browser	The built-in web browser.
Files	A searchable folder tree of the workspace.
Artifacts	The files this task created or mentioned. The button shows how many, and reads No artifacts yet until there are some.
Terminal	A terminal in the workspace folder. Also `⌘`/`Ctrl`+`J`.
Voice Mode	The voice panel, when the Voice Mode extension is enabled. See Apps, skills and extensions.

The panel can hold several tabs at once, for example two documents and a web page. Drag the divider to resize it.

Artifacts

When the agent creates or updates a file, it names the file in its reply. Click the name, or use the Artifacts button, to open it in the panel. To open new files automatically as they appear, turn on Auto-open generated files in Settings → Preferences (off by default).

What opens in the panel

Anything else shows Preview unavailable. Open externally to view this file. Use Show in folder and open it with another app.

Artifact controls

Control	What it does
Edit	Switches Markdown, text and web pages to an editor. Save changes writes the file; Discard changes drops your edits.
Download artifact	Saves a copy of the file somewhere you choose.
Show in folder	Opens the folder that contains the file.
Close artifact	Closes this tab of the panel.

Edit a spreadsheet

Spreadsheets open as a table you can type into. + Row and + Column add space, Discard throws away your edits, and Save writes the file.

Saving an Excel file keeps only the first sheet's values

The table shows the first sheet of a workbook. Saving writes a new workbook with just that sheet's values, so other sheets, formulas and formatting are lost. Ask the agent to make changes to workbooks with several sheets or formulas, or save a copy first. CSV and TSV files have no such limit.

Browse workspace files

Files shows the workspace as a folder tree. Select a folder to expand it, and a file to open it in the panel. Long folders show the first entries; select See more to load the rest. Type in Search workspace files to filter by name. Refresh files picks up files added since you opened the panel.

Delete uploaded files and folders

You can delete files and folders you uploaded, from inside the uploads folder. Hover over the item and select the bin (Delete <name>).

For a file, Delete this file? asks you to confirm. Select Delete.
For a folder, Delete this folder? asks you to type the folder's name exactly, then select Delete folder.

Any searchable pages made from it, such as from PDFs, are removed too, so the agent can no longer read it. This can't be undone. Only items inside uploads can be deleted here; ask the agent or use your file manager for anything else. To delete a document you attached to a message, see Delete an attached document.

The built-in browser

The Browser panel is a web browser inside LatentWork. Type an address in Enter URL..., use Back, Forward and Reload, and open more pages with New tab. Right-click a tab for Copy URL, Open in Browser (your usual browser), Close Tab and Close All Tabs.

The agent can use this browser too, through the LatentWork Browser extension, which is enabled by default. Ask for things like:

Open example.com in the browser and list the links on the home page.
Search the web for three suppliers of recycled packaging and put them in suppliers.csv.

The browser stays visible while the agent works, so you can watch each step.

Web apps the agent starts

When the agent builds a website and starts it on your computer, it gives you an address such as http://localhost:5173. Click it to open it in the browser panel. The command palette's Accessible items lists the servers and artifacts found in the current task, so you can reopen them.

The terminal

Terminal opens a terminal at the bottom of the task, in the workspace folder, using your usual shell. It's yours: commands you type here run directly, without the agent and without approvals. Hiding it keeps it running, and the button then reads Terminal (running). Select Close terminal to end it.
