Apps, skills and extensions

Give the agent more to work with: connect apps over MCP, add skills that teach it how to do a job, and turn on built-in extensions.

Where to find them

Open Settings and select Extensions, under Workspace. Everything here belongs to the workspace selected in the sidebar. The page has:

Add Custom App, to connect your own MCP server.
A search box (Search extensions...) and filters: All, MCPs, Skills and Show hidden.
Available apps: apps you can connect in one click, built-in extensions, and your installed skills. Select a tile to see its details and connect it.
Your apps: the apps connected to this workspace, with their status.
Advanced settings: where the configuration file is, for editing by hand.

Refresh, at the top, reloads the lists.

Connect an app

Apps are MCP servers: they give the agent tools for a service such as Notion or Linear.

Choose the app
Under Available apps, select the app's tile (Tap to connect). Its details open, including whether it needs you to sign in.

Connect
Select Connect. The app is added to this workspace.

Sign in, if asked
For apps that use your account, LatentWork opens your browser to sign in. Follow the steps there. If the browser can't hand back to LatentWork, paste the callback URL or code it shows into Callback URL or code and select Complete connection.

Reload
A Reload required notice appears: LatentWork needs a quick reload to use the new app. Select Reload now, or Later to finish what you're doing first.

Once connected, just ask: "Create a Linear issue for the bug we found", or "Summarize the Q3 planning page in Notion". The agent picks the app's tools itself. You can also point it at one from the MCPs tab of the plug menu in the message box.

Add a custom app

Connect any MCP server, such as an internal tool or a hosted app.

Open Add Custom App
Select Add Custom App at the top of Extensions.

Describe the server
Fill in App name with a name you'll recognize, then choose a Type:
- Remote (URL): enter the Server URL the app's provider or your administrator gave you. Tick This app requires sign-in if it needs you to sign in.
- Local (command): enter the Command that starts the app on this computer, as given in the app's instructions.

Add it
Select Add App, sign in if asked, and select Reload now when prompted.

Manage connected apps

Each app under Your apps shows its status:

Status	Meaning
Ready	Connected and available to the agent.
Sign in needed	Select Sign in to connect your account.
Paused	Disabled. The agent can't use it until you enable it.
Offline	Not connected. Check the server is running and reachable.
Issue	Something went wrong. The error is shown with the app.

Select an app to see its details: Connection is Cloud (sign in with your account) or Local (runs on this device), and Technical details shows how it's configured. From there you can Disable or Enable it, Log out of its account (which removes the stored sign-in), or Remove it from the workspace.

Edit the configuration file

Advanced settings shows the path of the config file for This workspace or All workspaces, and opens it in Finder or File Explorer. Reload LatentWork after editing it.

Skills

A skill is a written procedure that teaches the agent how to do a particular job, such as filling in a report template or following your house style. The agent reads a skill's description and uses it when it fits the task.

Use a skill

Just ask. If a skill fits the task, the agent uses it.
To choose one yourself, type / in an empty message box and pick it, or open the plug menu and pick it from Skills. It's added to your message as a chip.

See installed skills

In Extensions, choose the Skills filter. Select a skill to see its description, where it's stored and the start of its instructions. Reveal in Finder opens its folder.

Where skills come from

Skills saved in this workspace, skills installed with LatentStack, skills you already use with other agent tools, and skills synced from your organization's skill registry.

Synced skills show a Synced tag. They're read-only here: select View (instead of Edit) to read them. Any change made on this computer would be replaced the next time the skill syncs, so edit it in the registry instead, or select Override in project to make your own copy in this workspace. Synced skills can't be uninstalled here.

A skill without a description shows Agent can't see this. The agent never sees it, so it's never used. Add a description to fix it.

Add a skill

Ask the agent to write one, for example "Turn how we just built this report into a skill called weekly-report". Select Reload now if LatentWork shows Reload required.

Write a skill by hand

Create a folder in the workspace's .latentcode/skills/ folder with a SKILL.md file inside. Give it a short name, and a description that says what the skill does and when to use it: this is what the agent reads to decide. The description is required: a skill without one is never used.

Remove a skill

Open the skill and select Uninstall. This deletes the skill's folder from the workspace. Skills installed with LatentStack and synced skills can't be uninstalled here. To just keep a skill out of the list, select Hide; Show hidden brings it back.

Built-in extensions

Built-in extensions appear under Available apps. Select one to see what it needs, and to enable or set it up. Extensions marked Preview are still in development.

OpenAI Image Gen	Generates images as files in the workspace.	An OpenAI API key, entered in the extension's details.
Voice Mode	Talk to LatentWork through a voice panel. Preview.	Enabling, and an OpenAI API key.
Google Workspace	Help with meetings, selected Drive files, and Gmail drafts. Preview.	Connecting your Google account.

Show hidden shows tiles you've hidden. Selecting Hide on any tile moves it there.

Enabled extensions also appear in the Extensions tab of the plug menu in the message box. Choosing one starts your message, such as "Use the OpenAI Image Gen extension to ", for you to finish.
