What LatentWork runs on your computer, what it stores there, and what it sends over the network.

How LatentWork runs

LatentWork does all its work on your computer. Only the AI model runs elsewhere, reached through your LatentStack gateway. The agent reads and writes the files in your workspaces and runs commands there, asking you first where the approval rules say so. Every workspace is a folder on this computer.

What's stored on your computer

Tasks you run in LatentWork don't appear in LatentCode, and the other way round.

Where the app data folder is

If support asks for it: on macOS ~/Library/Application Support/com.differentai.latentwork, on Windows %APPDATA%\com.differentai.latentwork, on Linux ~/.config/com.differentai.latentwork.

Your API key is stored in plain text

~/.latentwork/config.json holds your API key unencrypted, readable by anyone who can read your home folder. Don't share or sync this file. If it leaks, select Regenerate on your Account page, then enter the new key in Settings → LatentRouter.

What's sent over the network

latentstack.dev	Update checks and update downloads.	In the background, if Check automatically is on, and when you select Check now.

Your task history stays on your computer. The gateway sees each model request as it passes through, applies your organization's models, limits and policies, and records usage such as tokens and cost for your account. See the Admin Console for what administrators can see and set.

Updates come from LatentStack, not your own server

The app checks for and downloads updates from latentstack.dev even if you installed it from your own LatentStack server. To avoid background checks, turn off Check automatically in Settings → Updates.

Remove your data

One task: Delete session in the task's menu. See Task menu.
Memories: delete them in Settings → Memory, or Forget all. See Memory.
Attachment copies: hover over an attachment's chip in the conversation and select the bin to delete that copy. See Delete an attached document. To remove them all, delete the .latent/docs folder in the workspace.
Uploaded folders and files: delete them from the Files panel. See Browse workspace files.
Your saved key: delete ~/.latentwork/config.json. LatentWork asks you to connect again at next start.
Everything: run the LatentStack uninstaller and don't choose to keep your data. It removes the app, the app data folder and ~/.latentwork. See Install.

Removing a workspace from the sidebar doesn't delete anything: its tasks and files are kept.
