Admin ConsoleAdminister

Users

Add people to your organization one at a time or from a spreadsheet, assign their tiers, and manage their roles, limits and access.

Required role
Owner or Admin of the active organization. A few account-level actions (making someone a platform admin, deleting an account) also need you to be a platform admin.

The Users page

Open Users from the Administration group. It lists the members of the active organization, 50 per page, with the total at the top. Besides the table, the page has the organization's Join requests, the Invite to box and the organization's Credits card. Invites and join requests are covered in Organizations and members, credits in Credits.

ColumnWhat it shows
UserEmail and name.
RoleThe person's role in this organization. It's a menu when you're allowed to change it. A shield icon marks platform admins (visible to platform admins only).
TierThe tier the person uses in this organization; pick another to reassign it. (inherited) means no tier is set in this organization yet; pick one. Unknown tier (deleted) — reassign means the tier no longer exists; pick a new one.
RegisteredWhen the account was created.

Use the search box (Search by email, name, or ID…) and the filters: All tiers narrows to one tier, and All roles narrows to Platform admin or User (the platform-wide flag, not the organization role). Clear filters resets both.

Add a user

  1. 1
    Select Add user

At the top right of the Users page.

  2. 2
    Enter the Email

Platform admins also see Make this user a platform admin.

  3. 3
    Choose whether to email them

Leave Email the user their API key ticked to send a welcome email with a temporary password, their API key and the gateway base URL.

  4. 4
    Select Create user

The account is created as a member of the active organization, on the organization's default tier.

  5. 5
    Copy the credentials

A panel shows the new account's API key. Copy it now: it isn't shown again here (the user can always see it on their own account page).

If no email is sent, the panel also shows the Email and Web UI password for you to pass on. If the email was supposed to go out but failed, the page says so.

Adding someone who already has an account
If the email belongs to an existing account that isn't in your organization, Create user adds that account as a member. No new password or key is created. If they're already a member, you'll see "This user is already a member of this organization".

Add users in bulk

Create many accounts at once from a CSV or Excel file.

  1. 1
    Prepare the file

Use .csv, .xlsx or .xls. Only the first sheet is read. The first row must be a header with a column named email, emails, mail or mails (any case). Other columns are ignored, duplicates are removed, and anything without an @ and a dot is skipped.

    users.csv
    email,department
    ana@example.com,Risk
    raj@example.com,Trading
    lee@example.com,Ops
  2. 2
    Select Bulk upload

Then Click to choose a file. The preview shows how many unique emails were found and lists the first 20.

  3. 3
    Choose whether to email them

Leave Email each user their temporary password and API key ticked to send welcome emails.

  4. 4
    Select Create N accounts

The upload runs in the background. A progress panel at the bottom right shows the Created, Skipped and Failed counts; you can minimise it and keep working. When it's done it lists every skipped or failed address with the reason.

New accounts join the active organization as members on its default tier. An address that already has an account is skipped (reason "already exists"); to add those people, use Add user or send an invite.

Bulk credentials are only sent by email
Unlike Add user, bulk upload never shows passwords or keys on screen. If you don't send the emails, people set a password with Forgot password? on the sign-in page and then find their key on their account page.

Assign a tier

Pick a tier in the person's Tier menu. The change applies to their requests in this organization only; the same person can be on different tiers in different organizations. Only this organization's tiers are offered. See Tiers and limits for what a tier controls and how a team's tier takes precedence.

You can change your own tier. For anyone else, the same rule as roles applies: an admin can reassign members, and the owner can reassign admins and members.

Row actions

Select the ⋮ menu at the end of a row. You only see the actions you're allowed to take on that person.

ActionWhat it doesWho can do it
View usageOpens the person's usage in this organization: spend, requests, models, their tier's limits and how much of each they've used.Owner, Admin
Set credit limitSets or clears the person's personal credit limit in this organization. See Credits.Owner, Admin (on members and themselves)
Reset rate limitsClears the requests and spend counted against the person's rate-limit and budget windows, in this organization and in its teams. Their limits don't change, and credit balances aren't touched. Use it to unblock someone now.Owner (on admins and members), Admin (on members)
Make organization ownerTransfers ownership to this person. You become an admin.Owner
Remove from organizationRemoves their membership. Their account and API key remain, and they keep access to any other organizations.Owner (on admins and members), Admin (on members)
Make platform admin / Remove platform adminGrants or removes the install-wide platform admin flag. It doesn't change anyone's organization role.Platform admins
Delete userDeletes the account everywhere: credentials, API key and memberships in every organization. It can't be undone.Platform admins

For the owner, or someone at or above your own role, the menu explains why there's nothing to change. You can't delete your own account or remove your own platform admin flag, and an account that owns an organization can't be deleted until ownership is transferred.

Set credit limits for many people

Tick the checkbox at the left of each row, or tick the header checkbox to select everyone matching the current search and filters (across all pages). A bar titled Set limits for individual users appears. Enter a Limit in dollars and select Apply, or select Clear to remove the personal limit from everyone selected. People whose role you can't act on are skipped, and the result says how many.

Troubleshooting

"Only a platform administrator can create admin accounts"

Untick Make this user a platform admin. Organization roles are given with the role menu instead.

"You can't modify members at or above your own role"

Admins can act only on members. Ask the owner.

"This account owns … organization(s)"

The account can't be deleted while it owns an organization. Transfer ownership of each one first.

The welcome email didn't arrive

Check the message shown after creating the user. If sending failed, pass the credentials on yourself, or ask the person to use Forgot password?.

A tier shows in red as Unknown tier (deleted)

The tier was removed. Pick a current tier from the menu.
