Prompt management

Set the base system prompt that LatentCode and LatentWork run with in your organization, per product and per model.

Required role

Owner or Admin of the active organization.

What the platform prompt is

LatentCode and LatentWork get their base system prompt from the gateway. Each request from them starts with that base prompt; the client's own system instructions follow it and are kept. Prompt Management lets you replace the built-in base prompt with your own, for the whole product or for one model.

Only requests from LatentCode and LatentWork get a platform prompt. Other clients of the gateway get none.
Prompts are per organization.
A team instruction, when the request is made from a team, is added in front of it.

For each request, the gateway uses the first of these that's set:

Open Prompt Management

Go to Settings and select the Prompt Management card, or go to /prompts. Platform Settings at the top of the page takes you back.

Turn custom prompts on or off

The System prompt injection toggle (on by default) decides whether your prompts are used. When it's off, LatentCode and LatentWork still get a base prompt, but always the built-in one; your product and per-model prompts are kept and ignored until you turn it back on.

Edit a product prompt

Pick the product
Choose LatentCode or LatentWork in the menu above the editor. A built-in or customized badge shows which is in use.

Edit the text
The editor starts with the prompt in use. You can use the variables {model} and {date}; they're filled in for each request.

Select Save
It applies to that product's requests in the organization.

Reset to built-in (shown once the prompt is customized) removes your version and goes back to the built-in prompt.

Set a prompt for one model

Find the model
The Per-model prompts table lists every registered model with its provider and whether its prompt is Custom or Default.

Select the pencil icon
The System prompt dialog opens.

Write the prompt and select Save
The same {model} and {date} variables work here. The model's prompt then replaces the product prompt for requests to that model, from both products.

To remove a model's prompt, open it and select Reset to default, or save it empty.

Test prompt changes

The base prompt shapes how the agent behaves in every session. Try a change with a few real tasks before relying on it, and keep a copy of the previous text.

Troubleshooting

My prompt isn't being used

Check that System prompt injection is on, that the model doesn't have its own per-model prompt overriding the product prompt, and that the request comes from LatentCode or LatentWork rather than a direct API call.

Where is the regular Settings page?

Select Platform Settings at the top of Prompt Management, or Settings in the sidebar.
