Getting started

First launch walks you through connecting to your gateway and picking a workspace. Then you send your first task and watch it run.

1 · Connect to your gateway

On first run, LatentWork asks you to connect a provider. You need two things from your admin: the Gateway URL and your LatentStack API key (it starts with ls-).

  • Enter the Gateway URL and API key on the welcome screen (or later under Settings → AI).
  • Press Test Connection to confirm the app can reach the gateway.
  • Once it succeeds, the model list loads automatically — the same models your tier allows everywhere.
Already installed with the script?
The stack installer seeds the Gateway URL for you, so first launch usually only needs your API key.

2 · Pick a workspace

A workspace is just a folder on your computer that LatentWork operates in — where it reads and writes files for you. Choose one when prompted; your sessions are scoped to it, and you can switch workspaces any time.

3 · Run your first task

Create a session, type what you want in plain language, and send it. As the agent works you'll see:

  • An execution plan — the agent's to-do list, rendered as a timeline you can follow.
  • Live streaming — output appears in real time as it thinks and acts.
  • Permission prompts — for anything sensitive, you choose Allow once, Always, or Deny.

Try something concrete: "create a CSV of these expenses", "summarize this PDF", or "rename every image in this folder to match its date". When it produces a document, it opens in the built-in viewer.
